Zaina Berger

She/Her

Art Therapist and Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Zaina Berger is a cis female, queer, mixed Asian-American Art Therapist born and raised in San Francisco. Zaina has loved creating art since she was a child, inspired by a family of artists who encouraged her curiosity and imagination. She enjoys sharing her gentle and caring nature with others, helping them explore and express themselves through the joy of making art. Zaina obtained her masters in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Art Therapy from Dominican University in San Rafael, CA and is working towards full professional credentialing in Art Therapy.

Zaina is passionate about helping people heal, grow, and create meaningful change through art therapy. She is especially dedicated to supporting QTBIPOC folx, women of color, the API community, and young people navigating significant life transitions. Zaina has extensive experience working with teens and young adults who are exploring identity, managing perfectionism, coping with the pressures of social media, struggling with body image, eating disorders, or processing trauma. Her approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and self-compassion, all grounded in a relational and client-centered lens. Zaina believes in meeting clients where they are, creating a safe and supportive space for self-expression and growth. She has worked in a high school setting and in private practice settings providing telehealth services for transitional-age youth (14–26), helping them build self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and self-trust.

Zaina loves spending time with her sassy little dachshund, who keeps her on her toes, and cherishes moments with friends and family. Zaina calls the East Bay home and she’s happiest when she’s by the ocean, wandering through nature, or snapping photos of little moments that inspire her. As a tarot reader and reiki practitioner, Zaina is a lifelong seeker—always deepening her spiritual practice with curiosity, wonder, and a good sense of humor along the way.

Zaina is available to see individuals ages 8 and up at EBAT's Oakland office on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
