Our Services

"Art allows people a way to dream their way out of their struggle" - Russell Simmons

Rooted in our core values, EBAT offers deep and integrated services for everyone in the community across generation and population from children ages 4 and up, teens who might benefit from individual therapy or groups with peers, couples and families looking to strengthen their relationships, and adults and seniors interested in exploring any and all issues that can improve their health and healing.  Additionally, we are a resource and partner to community and corporate organizations that can help compound and expand the impact of creative arts therapy across their teams and members.

Therapy

East Bay Art Therapy serves clients of all genders, ages 4 and up with a variety of diverse backgrounds and identities.  We work with a variety of mental health issues with both youth and adults, including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and trauma recovery. We are an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, anti-fatphobic practice that is LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming. See our full list of specialties here. EBAT is an approved vendor of Regional Center of the East Bay. We are in the process of becoming vendors of San Andreas Regional Center. In the meantime, we can do courtesy vendorization at any Regional Center in California.

Youth

We offer child therapy to youth ages 4 to 18. Art therapy is type of therapy that can help young people access their emotions in a way that may feel more accessible to them. Our team integrates play therapy with art making in sessions to help young people process trauma and learn coping skills for managing and regulating big emotions such as grief, anger, depression, or anxiety. Our team is unique in that we work with all levels of support needs in young, from non-verbal autistic children to teens struggling with substance abuse. All of our therapists have a special ability to connect with youth and have a unique focus on teen mental health. We also offer art therapy groups for middles schoolers, high schoolers and young adults (transition aged youth).

Adults

We work with adults of all ages from 18 to 65 and older with an understanding that art therapy can benefit everyone across all individual needs, life stages, and challenges.

Families

We serve families who are interested in sessions together or separate to work through challenges or offer deeper connection in creative practice. If you want to work on healthier communication and boundaries amongst family members, Family Art Therapy is a creative and accessible approach for all ages. Our art therapists can help your family process conflict, trauma, or grief while deepening relationships and learning new coping skills.

Couples
(Currently not offered)

We can help couples in sessions together or separate to work through challenges or deepening bonds and understanding of themselves and their relationships. Couples Art Therapy is a unique and powerful approach to building intimacy, increasing communication, decreasing conflicts, and rebuilding trust. Art Therapy is a way for couples to express themselves and connect with each other non-verbally as well as verbally. The art work and art process often reveals new information about the dynamics of the relationship.

Groups

We offer group therapy primarily for youth, teens and young adults (at present) to have a safe space with peers that integrates therapeutic art making,  journaling and talk therapy to focus on age-relevant issues and offer coping skills for managing symptoms such as depression, anxiety, or trauma. Our groups are also a safe space for individuals to explore their gender and sexuality and neurodivergent-specific experiences.
