Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Arts for Social Emotional Learning in Art Education

Our students come to school with a multitude of trauma and complex psychological dynamics that affect not only their behavior but also thier ability to learn and orient themselves to the adults at school. Art educators have a unique opportunity to provide a therapeutic creative experience for students. In this training, the facilitator will provide an introduction to the field of art therapy, psychoeducation of trauma, what it means to be a trauma-informed educator, and offer arts lessons that promote social and emotional learning goals for students. Participants will actively engage in the creative process.
