Art Therapist

W2 Employee. Part-time minimum 15 clinical hours per week minimum (About 18-20 hours per week total) (prepare for a slow build of caseload). Option to eventually increase to Full-time which is 30 total hours minimum.


Availability: 

Must be available late afternoon/evenings (~3-7pm) on at least 2 weekdays and also available one weekend day.



Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 art therapy sessions at our office in San Jose to clients ages 4 and up, including individuals with disabilities.

  • Provide some home-based 1:1 art therapy sessions throughout the South Bay to clients with disabilities.

  • Availability to provide community based art therapy groups as needed

  • When working with minor clients in the private practice, provide parent consultation/collateral sessions.

  • Ensure services and treatment are culturally sensitive/informed in regard to all types of identities, especially those that are marginalized (gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, body size, disability, etc) Must be anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and working towards dismantling all systems of oppression including fatphobia.

  • Conduct private practice 1:1 sessions at the East Bay Art Therapy office in San Jose (office close to downtown), with option to do some telehealth only if requested by the client/family.

  • Complete progress notes for all sessions.

  • Complete treatment plans for all clients every 6 months.

  • Complete a comprehensive assessment of client’s mental health history and collaborate with the client to identify treatment needs. (private practice)

  • Assess and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Assist individuals to deal with problems ranging from short-term issues to persistent mental illness as well as developmental and intellectual disabilities. (private practice)

  • Monitor client’s progress and ensure their voice/choice in treatment. Analyze and interpret new/updated information about the client to reassess needs.

  • Identify needs, link to available resources, and modify the treatment plan as needed. (private practice)

  • Maintain up to date case files within electronic health record (EHR) (private practice)

  • Work within the limits of their qualifications, education, and skills

  • Value, support and respect the rights of others

  • Be punctual and maintain a professional attitude toward their tasks

  • Immediately notify the supervisor if unable to work due to health or other reasons

  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy with regards to organizational, client, and other information of a confidential nature. Adhere to HIPAA standards.

  • Represent East Bay Art Therapy accurately and positively at all times.

  • Ensure timely documentation progress notes and timely return phone calls and emails from East Bay Art Therapy supervisor.

  • Adhere to all standards of practice outlined by the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board).


Organizational Responsibilities
  • Complete and pass a criminal reference check and a vulnerable sector search as well as a drug screening (non-THC)

  • Complete and return all East Bay Art Therapy registration documents as indicated on the orientation checklist

  • Read, sign, and honor East Bay Art Therapy’s confidentiality and conflict of interest agreements

  • Meet weekly for first few months (then as needed) with employment supervisor. (If you have your ATR-Provisional, you will also meet weekly with your clinical supervisor) Attend Private Practice Group Supervision twice per month and attend the All Staff Meeting once per month. (All supervision and team meeting are conducted virtually.

  • Read and adhere to all East Bay Art Therapy policies and procedures

  • Address areas of conflict or concern in accordance with East Bay Art Therapy’s policies

  • Complete all documentation of their work according to East Bay Art Therapy standards

  • Maintain accurate record of work hours and tasks completed, in progress, and assigned

  • Carry out assigned tasks responsibly. Request support when needed

  • Participate in evaluations when asked by their supervisor

  • Attend any designated training or orientation assigned by their supervisor

  • Respond to communication from Supervisors and Intake Coordinator within 24 hours on work days.

  • Report any health and safety concerns to their supervisor

  • Provide appropriate and adequate advance notice of intention to leave the organization


Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Have current ATR-P, ATR, or ATR-BC and Master’s Degree in Art Therapy

  • Minimum 1 year post graduate clinical experience providing art therapy services.

  • Preferred: Full licensure as LMFT or LPCC. AMFT/APCC okay. (BBS Registration not required)

  • Ability to provide compassionate, empathic, and ethical service

  • Good standing with the ATCB and malpractice insurance entities.

  • Ability to be creative and innovative in clinical role

  • Be able to work independently after basic training

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Have access to computer for word processing, video conferencing, and email.

  • Confidence, experience and passion for working with children, adolescents, and adults.

  • Confidence, experience and passion for working with marginalized communities including people with disabilities.

  • Confidence, experience, and passion for using art therapy interventions in your work.

  • Must have a reliable vehicle and CA Driver’s License

  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish

  • Preferred: Member of a marginalized community/identity and/or lived experienced that informs clinical work.

Pay:
  • $50-90 per hour for all clinical hours based on credential level and years of experience. (50 min sessions are paid at 1 hour.)

  • $22 per hour for all admin hours (Notes, treatment plans, mandatory trainings, team meetings, supervision. Optional paid admin time for occasional social media content creation and/or blog writing.)
